According to mikebo, the creation of musical structures can well be compared with the act of painting or sculpting. The experimentation with various sounds inspired mikebo and let to the production of his songs. As a result, melodies and harmonic structures can be considered to be the direct outcome of the inspiration he got by discovering new interesting sounds and effects.
Given that, it is clear why some sounds could be perceived as soundtracks: with the power of imagination, you easily will be able to discover the pictures which belong to the musical “movie.”
Why did you choose for yourself to produce Electronic Music?
I would compare the arrangement of sounds with the help of a synthesizer to painting with tones. Consequently, I consider my songs rather symphonically, than being of traditional song-writing structure.
Some note sequences would seem trivial when played on a piano. Played with the described sounds however, the sequences all of a sudden develop to something new and unique.
How would you describe your musical style?
… it´s mikebo 😉. For me, I like to stick to the definition “Electronic Vintage”. I like EDM, but it is not my intention to produce dance floor styles. I use synthesizer comparable to the style of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Wendy Carlos, Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Vangelis, Kitaro and all the other electronic heroes. This is the kind of electronic sounds which inspired me since my youth.
What is the story about your track “I´m no Robot”?
Well… I`M NO ROBOT is a track from my coming album 11 MONKEYS (winter 2017). The album 11 MONKEYS will, next to traditional EM sounds, combine elements of the genres trance, dancefloor and chill out.
My track I`M NO ROBOT is dedicated to the inspirational italian astrophysicist Giuliana Conforto. In her book “The Organic Universe”she wrote “We are no Robots”. It´s an incredible work where she built a bridge between scientist and spiritual thinking.
